Liberals on the war-path against President Trump have been putting pressure on country superstar Toby Keith to apologize for agreeing to perform at the inauguration on Friday. Unfortunately for the meddlers on the left, Keith does not respond well to bullying.
This kind of reaction shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has followed his career, though. With patriotic hits like “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” and “American Soldier” the country star has a large loyal fan base across the nation. Kieth has been an outspoken supporter of our military and doesn’t care who knows about it.
Keith not only agreed to be a part of the “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” but told Entertainment Weekly “I don’t apologize for performing for our country or military, I performed at events for previous presidents Bush and Obama and over 200 shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the USO.”
While he’s not registered as a Republican, he freely admits that he registered as an independent because it just keeps people off balance. In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, he says
“I was a Democrat my whole life. They kind of disowned me when I started supporting the troops, then I went and registered Independent. I’ve never been a registered Republican. It just keeps people off balance. They don’t know what to think.”
He did, however, play at the Republican National Convention, but said he would have done the same for the Democrats, had they asked. But they didn’t ask, apparently they only worry about Mr. Kieth when he is playing for someone they don’t like.
