The Trump family is in mourning today after it was revealed that Milka Milisavljevic, the Serbian woman who was a nanny for the Trump children for over a decade, has passed away. She was 85 years-old.
Daily Mail reported that Milisavljevic died in the Serbian capital of Belgrade earlier this week after a short illness. Her funeral will be on Saturday, and she leaves behind two sons and multiple grandchildren, all of whom live in the United States.
Milisavljevic came to the United States from Serbia in the late 1970s and started working with the Trump family soon after Donald Jr. was born. She stayed with the family for eight years, watching over Trump’s oldest son and then his younger children Ivanka and Eric.
Milisavljevic was known for taking her job extremely seriously, once telling a reporter that she always kept a gun on her because she was concerned for the safety of the Trump children. She had lots of experience with firearms, since she had attended a military school in her youth.
After leaving the Trump family, she continued working in the United States until she moved back to Belgrade about 15 years ago. She continued to have a strong relationship with the Trump family even after she stopped working for them. In a recommendation letter for Milisavljevic, Trump’s first wife Ivana praised the nanny as someone who is “hard working, caring, responsible and patient.”
In an interview after Trump was elected, Milisavljevic praised the president-elect and his family, saying she wished she could see the Trump children again one more time.
Rest in peace, Milka Milisavljevic!
