Throughout the presidential election, Ivanka Trump repeatedly said she had no intention of taking a role in her father’s administration. That’s why it came as a surprise this week when she indicated she will actually be taking a massive role in Donald Trump’s White House.
Ivanka is reportedly searching for a chief-of-staff right now who will help her with her new role as first daughter, as she is reportedly planning to take over many of the duties typically performed by the first lady. Melania Trump has indicated she wishes to remain largely out of the spotlight since she isn’t planning to move to the White House, so it’s understood that Ivanka will be performing many of the first lady duties.
Surprisingly, it has been reported that Ivanka plans to use her position to fight climate change, something her father has called a “hoax.”
“The issues she’s talking about are ones she’s always talked about,” said a source close to Ivanka, according to Politico. “These are totally consistent with what she’s developed with her brand. She is playing a critical role in being able to have issues that moderate and liberal women care about — and creating a bridge to the other side.”
