Melania Trump Issues Statement On Donald Trump’s Rant About Women

As all of America weighed on the words spoken by Donald Trump in 2005 and leaked to the world Friday afternoon, one voice was not heard among the reverberations and condemnations of the pundits and politicians — Melania Trump’s.

That silence lasted until Saturday when Melania Trump — who was married to Donald Trump for only a few months when the now-infamous tape of Trump using vulgar words about women was made — issued a terse statement.

“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me,” her statement said.

“This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader,” she added.

“I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world,” the statement concluded.

Shortly after his wife issued her admonition about the incident, coupled with her call for the nation to stand by her husband as she would, Trump issued a tweet affirming his decision not to step aside despite GOP calls to do so.

“The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly – I WILL NEVER DROP OUT OF THE RACE, WILL NEVER LET MY SUPPORTERS DOWN! ‪#MAGA,” he tweeted.

The tape was made in the fall of 2005. According to reporting by CNN, NBC had gone in search of the tape after a former producer of Access Hollywood recalled Trump’s appearance on the show 11 years ago. NBC had apparently been planning to run the story Monday, after the presidential debate Sunday night. However, a copy of the tape was sent to the Washington Post, which ran with it Friday.

As the initial shock of the tape gave way, many commenters on ABC’s Facebook page contrasted the condemnations being hurled at Trump for what he said with the lack of the same for former President Bill Clinton and his string of infidelities.

“Bill Clinton had an affair with an intern, fathered a baby (possibly more than one) and abandoned him. Hillary defended a child rapist, had people killed in Benghazi, deleted 33k emails on a private server, systematically created and armed ISIS, had 6 billion dollars unaccounted for as Secretary of State. And the media doesn’t care. Donald Trump said something 11 years ago in a ‘locker room conversation’ and the media is now going crazy. The hypocrisy is astounding!!” commented Moly Bragiel.

“To all those who are so offended by Donald Trumps 10-year-old private raunchy conversation, turn in your copies of Fifty Shades of Grey.’ your rap music, your R&B music, your kids music, etc. …. What DT said was wrong, but what HRC and BC have done to women has been far worse. It still comes down to the economy, the supreme Ct, open borders, the security of this country, etc, etc…Clinton’s agenda is to further destroy this country. Trump at least had the courage to stand up and apologize for his mistake, but has BC or HRC ever apologized to his victims???” commented Jim Ash.
